13 New Businesses Now Open in Downtown Phoenix

What’s new in Downtown Phoenix? Better yetwhat isn’t? 

In a city where the action and adventure never end, an influx of new businesses has emerged amid the excitement of major events and developments. 

This latest lineup of openings features go-to neighborhood hangs, hidden experiences, and groovy lounges, making now the perfect time to discover your new Downtown favorites. 

Here’s a first look at the 13 new businesses now open in DTPHX:

Maleta Cafe

Friendly faces, artsy vibes, and unique lattes are just a few of the perks this new cafe brings to the Arizona Latino Arts & Cultural Center. "Maleta", meaning "suitcase" in Spanish, nods to the owner's impressive roster of international travels, which she shares with guests through thoughtful touches to each sip—like toothpick garnishes embellished with various flags from countries she's visited.

Uppercut

Tucked inside the Arizona Center’s newest steakhouse, Cleaverman, something quietly ambitious awaits. Uppercut is a hidden omakase-style experience that promises intimacy and exclusivity, with seating capped at just 16 guests per night. With a culinary journey as rare as its reservation availability, the intimate chef’s counter experience explores 14 courses of rare beef and Asian culinary traditions.

Céntrico

After many incredible years in its original location inside the historic Hotel San Carlos, Céntrico recently relocated to a stunning corner spot on 1st Ave. and Monroe St. The new space takes this local favorite to the next level with ample indoor seating, a breezy wraparound patio, and an expanded tequila & mezcal collection.

The Grove Artisan Café & Bakery

If you take your coffee with a side of decadence, be sure to add The Grove to your morning ritual. The bold flavors don’t stop at coffee—get the full experience by snagging a little something from the homemade bakery selection, packed with assorted pastries, breakfast sandwiches, granola bowls, and more fresh eats.

Oh My Gurt

OMG...A new fro-yo spot just landed in Downtown Phoenix, and it’s every bit as delightful as it sounds. Oh My Gurt is the latest hidden gem to join the historic Grand Ave. neighborhood. This family-owned business specializes in hand-made frozen yogurt, with dairy and sugar-free options available. Bonus: sit down and stay awhile at its outdoor picnic tables, plus plenty of free parking.

The Vital Lounge

Located in the heart of the Roosevelt Row Arts District, The Vital Lounge is the latest addition to Downtown's health and wellness community. Here, you can get your self-care taken care of with a variety of offerings. Services include yoga classes, sauna and cold plunge amenities, and beauty services, plus additional perks like community wellness events and an on-site coffee shop.

Tropic Thunder

Fans of local restaurateur Julian Wright’s tried-and-true Downtown spots like Luckys Indoor Outdoor, Pedal Haus, and Sake Haus (to name a few) can now add his most recent bacchanalian paradise to their DTPHX weekend roto. Tropic Thunder is Roosevelt Row’s newest “cheeky tiki” dive bar, offering a unique tropical escape with a grittier vibe.

Souvenaire Shop

One of Downtown’s most locally-coveted corners just got even cooler with the arrival of Souvenaire Shop. Part zine library, part artful rabbit hole, this new retail space neighboring Bad Jimmy’s offers anything but your average memorabilia. The highly curated shop doubles as a hub for counter-culture—blending art, fashion, music, and independent media into one ever-evolving collection.

Dilla Libre Tres

In lieu of your typical cantina experience, this new Mexican-style eatery embraces a Lucha Libre theme, bringing innovative takes to traditional sabores. Best known for its award-winning quesadillas and welcoming atmosphere, Dilla Libre Tres recently moved into the DTPHX neighborhood with its new location on the corner of McDowell Rd. and 7th Ave.

Matilda’s All Day Café

The popular—and affectionately named—coffee mobile behind First Place Coffee, “Matilda,” has officially planted firm roots with its first brick-and-mortar location. Now open in the charming historic building formerly home to Garden Bar, Matilda’s All Day Cafe serves its fan-favorites in a cozy indoor/outdoor setting with extended hours and offerings.

DTPHX Homage

While this local cafe may be new to the neighborhood, its story nods to the generations of coffee lovers who have paved the way. Nestled in a historic bungalow on 7th St. bordering the historic Garfield District, DTPHX Homage is a small, family-run business built on love for quality, connection, and doing things by hand, with heart.

The Grotto Menswear

Now open in the former NOW OR NEVER retail space on the corner of Roosevelt St. and Central Ave., The Grotto is a place for gentlemen to get suited up in a relaxed atmosphere. Shop high-quality, custom menswear for any occasion, crafted with all of the care and none of the stress.

Soundtrack Coffee

Local barista Joe Ramirez is striking a new chord in Downtown's growing small-business scene, establishing a new home for his years-in-the-making coffee concept. Now taking up residency inside local restaurant Chilte along the historic Grand Avenue corridor, Soundtrack Coffee brings a personal touch to the city's coffee culture.
